BIRMINGHAM OPEN HACK

Birmingham Open Hack, founded in 2018, is a hackathon that aims to bring the community together to represent Birmingham. Led by a student community called BCU TechGuild, with the aim to help current students and newcomers make an impact.

What is special about 2021?

This year we’ve had the amazing opportunity to host the NASA Space Apps Challenge for Birmingham. NASA Space Apps took place from 2nd to 3rd October 2021. This November we are back again! This time hosting Oracle’s hackathon for a sustainable future. Join us from 12th November 2021 for a 52-hour, virtual, app development challenge, with a focus on the following UN sustainability pillars: Healthy Lives and Well Being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption, and Production

WHY BIRMINGHAM?

Open hack chose Birmingham as it was the home of the founders and more importantly it is the new epicentre of technological boom in the United Kingdom. Birmingham’s tech sector is growing faster than ever with new recruits and old professionals together alike. We are proud to call it our home and something that we represent!
